iPhone Safari Crashes, a lot - What Should Apple Do

So I have had an iPhone for about a week and a half and it has become clear that the Safari browser is not ready yet.  It crashes many, many times a day.  So what should Apple do.

To add a little more color, I am not alone:
iPhone Safari Browser Crash (25 comments and counting)
Safari Crashes on my iPhone
iPhone Safari Crash (MacWorld Forum)
and more...

Now, I love the iPhone and trust Apple to get out a patch to fix the problem.  I am still a huge fan.

What should Apple do?  Here are the options:
1. Web2.0-style - Have a corporate new product blog, expose the problem immediately, issue a "We know it is happening and we will get a patch out ASAP".  Accept that people will link to it but that it is likely fixable and may provide greater trust and goodwill.
2. Old school - Have no reference in the FAQs or support to the issue.  Make no mention of when or if a patch release of any kind will be forthcoming.  This has the advantage of avoiding negative news coverage that may stem the flood of adoption.

This is not a rhetorical question. What is the right answer?

my experience with safari on the iphone is the same. I'll be looking to see if you have updates. They are certainly silent on it thus far.

Same here. Lots. And lots of Safari crashes. Also Mail is painfully slow. Maybe b/c I'm coming from blackberry, but even to load messages in general is really bad when the app is open. Apple needs to get their servers up to RIMs standards.

Great idea.(Web 2.0 features) Its amazing how cutting edge Apple can be but in this particular area they seemed to be very tight-lipped.

I found a trick that works. You csn go into the Safari settings under the main iPhone sertings tab and go all the way to the bottom to the develloper tab and turn on debugging. Then when you view a web page that is not written correctly Safari wont crash but rather tell you what errors are on that webpage. The joy is it ignores these webpage errors and will keep you on the webpage. Hope this helps people.

Yep. Safari crashes repeatedly on my iPhone too. Worse, if I am listening to music it stops, also. I totally agree with your web 2.0 aproach to Apple's response. Just say what's true and that it will be fixed as soon as possible. Isn't that all anyone could expect anyway?

same here. Typical session lasts fewer than 10 minutes. My blackberry is MUCH more stable. Wouldn't it be great if we could have Firefox on the iPhone?
